How you would manage your finances?

February 2nd, 2013 1 comment

how you would manage your finances to last you till next pay?

I would manage my finances between pay by setting up a budget.

You start off with your gross that you take home after taxes and anything else and then budget out all of your expected expenses for the pay period. Then leave a cushion for unexpected expenses. You should stick to the budget and be fine… Also, one of your expenses should be savings, meaning you should put a portion of each check into a savings account. Also, NO CREDIT CARD DEBIT.

What is the best way to budget?

January 17th, 2013 4 comments

I find that one of the most difficult things to do is budgeting income allocation on expenses. I make a decent living but find that I pay my bills and have nothing left over to take care of unexpected expenses. Are there any suggestions on how to budget appropriately and prioritize expenses?

There’s no cookie-cutter solution for this one. All I can do is refer you to a finance blog I visit every now and then, they have a few articles on budgeting.

What are ways for a high school student like me to build up credit?

December 24th, 2012 5 comments

and how would I go proving my credit when it comes time for me to get,for example,a car, rent an apartment, etc.

A credit card is a good way to build ur credit… yes u do have to be 18 to apply but u can start before if u can get one of ur parents to cosign a credit card for u… this way, by the time u are 18 ull already have credit established. ur credit is very important in purchasing big items such as a car or renting an apt so be on top of ur payment. the smartest way to use ur card if u dont really want to buy much is to use it for purchases over $20 and pay it off as soon as u get ur statement. This is something i found while browsing for a new credit card… they got some good recommendation on which card to apply for

Does anyone know any LEGITIMATE ways to make money at home?

December 23rd, 2012 9 comments

I’m sure everyone has asked this question at one time or another, but I’ve been searching and haven’t found much. There is one site but it doesn’t pay much. I’m a stay at home mom looking for some extra income. Ultimately, I would like to know if there are any real transcription jobs I could do. Very efficient with computer and knowledge of medical stuff. Any help you might be able to give would be a great help! Thanks!

You can also try survey sites, like SurveySavvy.com, SurveySpot.com, and MySurvey.com. I’ve had some pretty good luck with those three – a few dollars once a week or so, but it doesn’t take much time, so it’s worth it to me.

Honestly, the biggest money-maker online for me is my blog. I write about personal finance, and I sell ads and use affiliate links to bring in some cash. I make about $100 a month with that, but it’s taken me 2 years of writing to get to that point – it’s definitely hard work!

How do you calculate the weight of equity in a capital structure where the Debt/Capital is greater than 100%?

December 12th, 2012 1 comment

I am trying to calculate WAAC and am having problems relevering my ‘clean’ asset beta to incorporate an optimal capital structure which is ‘apparently’ according to the iterative process, greater than 1. How do I adjust my calculations to account for this? What is the weight of equity?

For matters pertaining to equity the authority that I go to is Marian Snow – best-selling author of "Stop Sitting on Your Assets". She talks about how to let your equity work for you, how to become your own bank, and secure your financial future. I got a lot of new ideas, and now view my money and financial management in a different way.

Preview the book here — there’s a lot of vital information you can’t find anywhere else. I suggest too that you make a small investment on the book. It changed my total outlook on investments, mortgage, equity and personal finance.

How do you form a budget when you don’t get paid at a certain time or a certain amount?

December 10th, 2012 3 comments

My husband owns a very small pest control company. We do not get paid on a regular basis and the amount always varies depending on how many jobs he has that week. We are trying to get on a budget and I am not sure what to do. We’ve been on a budget before back when he worked for a company and got paid a certain amount each week. I do not know how to account for the variations.

Take out a sheet of paper and write down each and every expense that you have. Next, put them in order of importance. I recommend starting with food, shelter, utilities, and clothing. From there move into debts and finally at the end of the list, unfortunately, should be entertainment.

As money comes in pay the items in the order you listed them. For instance, at the beginning of the month you will need to pay the rent/mortgage. Once that is paid for use whatever money is left over to pay the next item on the list.

Each time you are paid just start where your last income left off and go down your list. It is a great idea to set aside a little money each time you are paid to build an emergency fund of one to two thousand dollars to help you through any slow times you may see in the future.

Should you want more information regarding budgeting or emergency funds you can check out cash-in-full.com. It is a blog focused on personal finance.

I hope this helps. Best of luck!

What job title should I use?

November 20th, 2012 1 comment

I want to start a newsletter , giving personal finance advice,

as well as write study guides for Accounting students.

What should I put as my job title?

(I’ve recently graduated with an Accounting degree)
I meant an ‘online newsletter’.

Job title – do you mean on your business cards – i believe "Personal finance / Accounting tutor " would be just fine. Tutoring can apply both for helping students and helping not-students with their personal finance.
If you want to start delivering newsletter, i would recommend you to start a blog with blogger.com and add the feedburner widget for email subscription. It is easy and the blog can be completed within 10minutes — you just have to take care for the contents — which is the tricky part. Hopefully, you have good writing skills and can write informative yet conscise advices. Good luck.
