Best personal finance software?

September 4th, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Hi. Can anyone recommend some popular and sound personal finance software? I would go for MS money or Quicken but neither of them have support in the UK. I don’t want to connect to the Internet for this and I don’t run a business- just home use. Thanks very much!
And itf it has to be Quicken- what is the latest version I can buy in the UK?

Quicken is The Best.

    Just found this :-

"Intuit UK has made a difficult business decision to discontinue future development of Quicken products for the UK market. To help customers affected by this decision, we will continue providing access to Quicken customer support and online services through to the end of January 2006."

So that’s that then .. you could try eBay for a old version, or you can attempt to purchase the US Edition (which I guess won’t support UK £ and will insert all sorts of US Tax stuff)

Microsoft Money seems to be the only alternative now .. but I don’t know how well suited to UK market this would be ..

Personally I use Excel .. this has the advantage that the Formula are all created by myslef and can thus be modified with ease (eg. to include removal of 10% band and reduction of standard rate from 22% to 20% Tax next yr).

What’s wrong with using Excel? I use it for all my accounts, no problem.
