She is great as I enjoy her show! She makes so much sense and gives good advise on what we should be doing with our money. She is a beautiful woman with good common sense. God bless her!

Eat less meat, stop …
Eat less meat, stop drinking soft drinks/drink more water, shop around for cheaper car insurance, never co-sign, max out your 401 K at work, make a budget, stay away from malls/stores, eat in more, use coupons, buy used, use your local library, brush & floss teeth daily, take care of your health, borrow dvd’s from library/redbox, buy a IRA Roth every year, learn about investing at your library, google Dave Ramsey/Clark Howard, don’t lend money, shop at thrift stores, buy in bulk.

thank you for sound, reasoned advice. To me, Suze Orman comes across like someone on an infommercial, using a loud voice, overly dramatic facial expressions and alarmist language to convince people.

Have you tried thinking for yourself? Suze Orman has advice than only works if you are already well-off. If you are poor, I guess you are nowhere near her radar. Now she has hatched a scheme to get you to invest in her debit card business – you pay her company a yearly and monthly fee. My bank charges me nothing. Besides, she yells like some sort of banshee tv evangelist – gets on my nerves like fingernails on a blackboard.

Is she for real? The “New American Dream” is to live below our means? What a joke!!! I want an advisor to help me reach my dreams not dash them!!! She’s probably like the planners who tell clients they will be in a lower tax bracket at retirement!!! I want to be in the HIGHEST tax bracket possible!!!! It’s like people who hear about someone winning the lottery and saying “think about all those taxes they’ll have to pay”!!!! I’d be honored to pay those taxes!!!!

Suze Orman is the reason I haven’t used a credit card in almost 5 years, the reason my house is paid off and most importantly the reason why I learned that no one will ever care about my money more than myself!!! For you people that don’t believe in her advice ur probably gona get buried in debt instead of sand!!

I think Suze is responding to the general feeling of panic shared by the middle and lower income people. She has always said pay off your mortgage, now she says be reasonable and use what money you have for survival. Spend only what you need to and say what you can because tomorrow you too may be unemployed. I think that some of the best advice would be to go back to some of the tactics used in the depression, like house sharing, rent out a room. Raise veg in your back yard or balcony, etc.

Wow – Suze Moron almost admits everything she told viewers for the past 10 years was not good financial advice (she just says it no longer applies – newsflash – it didn’t apply all the while she was doling it out for the last 10 years either!) She said all you needed was to buy the cheapest S&P500 ETF but the S&P500 including dividends LOST money aka the “Lost Decade” everyone talks about. Suze owes her earlier book & DVD buyers a refund!!!

Nothing Susie Orman says will help this economy or our children. If we follow her advice our enonomy will slow down just like Japan has for decades. Real estate will be sluggish and jobs scarce. Japan youth postponed marriage and children further slowing the economy. Our economy will only recover when credit is extended with reasonable requirements. Self-employed people have to quality on the NET after all deductions – so it is super diffiucult to qualify even with a perfect payment history!

Remember Susie Orman lost every penny of the $50,000 she was given – She SUED Merrill Lynch and won. Quite a unique way to start making money. She has given a lot of crappy advice over the years. Now people are in trouble and she is giving more crappy contradictory advice. People listen to your gut, Refinance your house if you can! The banks could streamline refinance all current loans – helping the middle class. They should never have been given taxpayer money without that requirement!!

I watched this “Money Class” and was appalled she had the nerve to charge money for the advice. Sell your house at a loss, move into an apartment, tell your kids you can’t afford college, consider a short sale and rent. Some of it is okay (but NOT what she said years ago). Parents should always have made it clear their children would have to EARN their money. But frugality will only get you so far. Teach them to be creative earning money and creating something of value to society!

Susie Orman has this “Money Class” on PBS and they are asking $250 for it! How much does she get of that??? Is she donating her time to PBS or is she making money off this? She is telling people the new American Dream is to settle for less, don’t buy a car, maybe short sell your house and rent an apartment. I did not hear her say use Obama Making Home Afordable Plan to refinance even if your house has gone done in value. Her advice will not allow the economy to recover.

Susie Orman is telling people not to go back to school because no one is hiring. What a lousy message. She should be telling them to simply be careful not to spend a lot of money going back to school because businesses are just not hiring right now and may not for a while. She never talks about starting a side business at something you are good at that does not take a lot of capital. Or renting your home if you need to move and depreciating it on your taxes as a rental. How about real solutions.

Susie Orman was telling callers to her show in 2004 that adjustable rate mortgages were still a good idea, and in 2006 the LIBOR exploded up 6 pts and people interest rates skyrocketed. This caused the first wave of defaults and foreclosures. People wake up and remember. Yes, pay down your credit cards, don’t live above your means, save your money. Do we need Susie Orman to tell us THAT! In 2009 she was on Oprah scolding people for investing in growing their business!

Susie Orman most remarkable aspect is that she thinks she should be telling people what to do. This bank, credit default swap mess stole so much American wealth from the middle class and has concentrated ever more in the hands of the Rich and manipulative. If you had lots of money you may have lost some, but when the market went down you could use your money to buy stock and real estate cheap. All the while regular working people lost 25, 30, 40, 50 % of their 401 K, 403 B, IRA.

This is interesting hearing truth from a woman. …. errr that didn’t sound good :).

I mean all these self-help advisors say basically the same thing, just repeated in different ways. Sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesn’t, but I’ve never heard it from a woman speaker before.

I like that she doesn’t say it from a “womans perspective” she just says it from a human perspective 🙂
