Do you think this is a form of spying on your neighbors?
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

I heard about this yesterday, and yes, it is very disturbing. And people were concerned about George W. Bush’s Patriot Act which involved terrorism and foreign nationals. Here’s Obama asking us to report conversations among Americans! It’s very disturbing indeed… and makes you wonder, "What’s next?

You could read it that way but I don’t think that was what was intended. I don’t think they want to know who said it or wrote it— just what is being passed around that is inaccurate– so they can counter it. If it had come from the previous White House occupant they would have wanted to know who, I am sure. In fact, they would not have needed to put out a message like this because they were doing surveillance of one sort or another on a large part of the population already. But as far as I know the current White House is not doing that.
