How do you correctly cite an author who refers to other sources within his/her article? (MLA Form)?
For example, I would like to know how to correctly form an in-text citation and works cited page for the following excerpt:
“materialism is negatively correlated with satisfaction with personal finances and career accomplishments (Dawson 1988) and positively correlated with social anxiety (Schroeder and Dugal 1995), dependency, and self-criticism (Wachtel and Blatt 1990).”
Notice that the author refers to other sources. Do I need to place these sources in my works cited page or is it sufficient to cite the author whose article I am reading?
It is sufficient to cite only the authors article you’re reading because that is where YOU are extracting the information from.
