Where in the Constitution does Obama get the right to ask us to gather intelligence for him?

From the WhiteHouse.gov blog:
Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, "facts are stubborn things."

Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to "uncover" the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions….

…There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

I could say something immature like Flag this A** Hole., but I would be more straight forward with these people in the blog.

1. I know who they are, so they do not need to try and pretend to be just another face in the crowd.

2. People are going to FIND OUT the truth. Most people Already know how the Bullshit "Universal Health Care" is doing in EUROPE. People have to wait up to 5 months to see a Doctor because many Doctors fulfill their number of patients they must see in the beginning of the year so they can go on vacation the rest of the year. MEANWHILE, the middle of the year when people get sick, they have to be put on a Waiting list. Do Not try and tell me that’s not true, because they dam well know it IS TRUE.!

3. This facade will not last much longer. The people know.

I always seem to have less in my checking account than I actually imagine. What basic tips can I employ?

Is it a smart move to close my 401K and with that money pay for my new house in cash?

August 26th, 2012 4 comments

I am 34 and I believe I have at least 30 more years to get a new 401 K going on and establish again good numbers in it :-). Also, I do have Roth IRA and I intent not to pay tax when I start withdrawing after some 30 years of rent/mortgage free life.
I am ready to pay any tax and penalty (10%) on my existing 401K withdraw based on my tax bracket.
Anyway, I better pay those taxes in times when they are low..like now.
The concern I have is that every personal finance article says not to touch 401K before retirement.

as someone else earlier said…it would have to be a former employers 401k so you’d have to quit your job to do this.

Next thing to address would be if it makes sense to take a 30-35% tax hit (minimum) or instant loss on the return in order to invest in an item that over time will offer lower returns than your 401k. Not smart.

Last thing to consider would be how to make this up? If your 401k balance is over 185,000 then you won’t be able to "make up" for this distribution. You can max out your contributions all you want and you won’t be able to do it. Do the math…

I understand the desire to not make a house payment but if you can make your house payment and maximize your 401k at the same time then that’s your best bet. Heck, if your account balance is over 185,000 then your better off stopping contributions and making that payment 100% to your mortgage then you are withdrawing your 401k and paying off the mortgage.

Bottom line is don’t touch the principle!!!!

What is a good personal finance computer program?

August 26th, 2012 1 comment

My husband and I are trying to solidify our budget on bi-weekly terms. Microsoft Money is a good program but it only does things on a months budget and we are look for something bi-weekly to strengthen our household finances. If any of you have used personal finance programs with these features please let us know the pros and cons, and also how this worked out for your household! Thank you so much.
